Elise P. Atkins was born May 6, 1922 in Richmond, Virginia to James and Katherine (nee Delaney) Phillips. She died Monday, August 23, 2010 at Northwest Community Hospital.

She was a long time member and volunteer at Our Lady of the Wayside Church and for the American Cancer Society.

Elise is survived by her children, Jeff (Holly) Atkins, Doug (Carol) Atkins, Janet (Richard) Sprague, Judy (Tim) Meginnes and Kevin (Deborah) Atkins; grandchildren, Jennifer and Todd Atkins, Marissa, Kristen and Mike Atkins, John and Scott Sprague, Jay and Alex Meginnes and Mark, Joseph and Olivia Atkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Herbert A. Atkins Jr.

Funeral Mass, 9:30 AM, Friday, August 27, 2010 at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871. or to Autism Speaks, 2 Park Ave., 11th Floor, New York, NY 10016.
