Joseph W. Skiba
Of Arlington Heights

Joseph Walter Skiba was born July 29, 1917 in Chicago to Albert and Antoinette (nee Nowak) Skiba. He passed away August 20, 2010 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights.

Before his retirement Mr. Skiba was employed as a tool and die foreman at ITT Harper. He was a Knights of Columbus member of St. Anthony Council. Joseph played the saxophone and clarinet, was interested in sports, an avid golfer, a big Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed growing orchids.

Joseph is survived by his children, Barbara (Al) Schladt of Arlington Heights, Tom (Eileen) Skiba of Arlington Heights, Joanne (Kriss) Andrews of Novi, Michigan, Betsy (Mike) Dougherty of Burnsville, Minnesota and Steve Skiba of Elgin, Minnesota, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his siblings, Casey (Gert) Skiba, Leonard (Alice) Skiba and Marilyn (Jim ) Cunningham; his sisters-in-law, Harriet and Gen Skiba.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (nee Bochnik) Skiba; his siblings, John (Stella) Skiba, Estelle (Stan) Sowizrol, Ann (Joe) Tragasz, Helen (John) Siemiaszko, Stanley (Sophie) Skiba, Ted Skiba, Mary (Chester) Gorecki and Ray Skiba.

Visitation from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Prayers 8:45 AM, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 9:30 AM. Burial at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Masses are appreciated.
