William Earl Zumstein
Of Arlington Heights

William Earl Zumstein was born February 3, 1927 in Chicago to Jesse Samuel and Lorraine Mae (nee Hendrix) Zumstein. He passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Zumstein served in the Army during WWII, and was a Brakeman and Yardmaster for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 43 years before his retirement in 1990.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (nee McBrien) Zumstein, whom he married on October 1, 1949 in Chicago; his children, Kathy A. Wroblewski, Donald C. Zumstein, Donna P. Daviero, and Craig A. Zumstein; his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Albert A. Zumstein, Patricia L. Smith, Donna M. Caldwell, and Robert K. Zumstein.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Chester D. Johns.

Visitation is from10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:30 PM, Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Entombment Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager, Barrington, IL 60010.
