Elizabeth N. Magill

Elizabeth N. Magill was born October 21, 1920 in Hillsboro, IL to Frank and Blanche (nee Watkins) Markel. She died Saturday July 31, 2010 at the Moorings in Arlington Heights.

Betty graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1942, taught English and Latin in Windsor, Illinois, and then worked as a Medical Librarian at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She was a long time resident of Mt. Prospect, active as a volunteer with Mt. Prospect schools, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, Meals on Wheels, and with St. Mark Lutheran Church, where she was a member for many years. She was widely read, a thoughtful correspondent, a sincere friend, a gifted cook, an avid gardener, and a lover of music and art. She loved her family dearly, held a deep respect for God’s creation, and was above all, a woman of great faith.

Survivors include her loving children Susan (Peter) Smith, Christine (Robert) Baldwin and Hugh (Nancy) Magill; dear grandchildren Bennett, Blair and Bradford Baldwin and Evan, Maren and Eliza Magill; her brother Frank (Elizabeth) Markel and several nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Robert H. Magill; her parents; and her sister, Helen Brown.

Visitation Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 200 S. Wille Street, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, Illinois.
