Lydia O. Junge
Of Palatine
Lydia O. Junge,
affectionately known
as Pookie, was born
on February 17, 1956
in Chicago. She
departed this life
on Wednesday, August
19, 2009.
She was educated in
the Chicago public
school system. Lydia
was very independent
and moved out on her
own at a young age.
Pookie loved to cook
and held many jobs
in food service.
Pookie had an
entrepreneurial
spirit and would
involve Herb in many
ventures including
catering, collecting
Barbie dolls and
inventing. Her dream
was to own her own
restaurant. She was
very strong and
courageous as she
struggled with many
health problems. She
remained positive,
never complaining
and never feeling
sorry for herself.
She always took care
of the needs of her
husband and her
mother.
Pookie believed in
Jesus Christ and
accepted the message
of salvation. She
was unique in many
ways. Her voice and
laughter were very
distinguishable. She
could be very vocal
about things that
rubbed her the wrong
way, but she was
always willing to
apologize if she
offended anyone.
Pookie will truly be
missed by her
family, friends and
pets.
She is survived by
her husband, Herb,
whom she married on
May 19, 1978; her
mother, Olivia
Oliver; her brother,
Calvin Oliver; her
sisters, Lena
(Percy) Coleman, Norlene Oliver,
Cathy Oliver and
Tammy Bowersock;
many nieces,
nephews,
great-nieces and
great-nephews; her
father-in-law, Egon
Junge; her
mother-in-law,
Marlene Junge; her
brothers-in-law,
David and Rob Junge;
and many cousins and
loved ones.
She was preceded in
death by her father,
James Oliver; her
sister, Cynthia
Hill; and her niece,
