Francis Scriven

Francis Scriven,
formerly of Chicago,
was born June 23,
1922 in Dixon, Ill.
to Charles William
and Anna Marie (nee
Thomas) Scriven. He
died Tuesday, August
19, 2008 at
Northwest Community
Healthcare Center.
Mr. Scriven was a
fire fighter for 33
years for the City
of Chicago before
retiring in 1985.
During his career he
was stationed at
Engine House #68,
Engine House #88 and
Midway and O’Hare
Airports. Francis
served in the Navy
during WW II and was
a Lifetime Member of
the Elk Grove VFW
Post #9284. He also
was a Eucharistic
Minister for the
last 17 years at St.
Mary Parish in
Buffalo Grove and
the last 13 years at
Northwest Community
Healthcare Center.
Francis was a member
of the Sacred Heart
Society and Holy
Name Society at St.
Bruno parish in
Chicago.
Francis’ survivors
include his wife
Alice nee Kelly whom
he married November
29, 1941; his
children James
(Carol) Scriven, of
Chicago, Jo Ann
Scriven Crum of
Buffalo Grove and
Francis (Susan)
Scriven of
Woodridge; his
grandchildren Kelly
Ann, James, Ann
Marie, Patrick,
Aimee, Warren,
Katherine, Jennifer,
Anthony and Michael;
his 13 great
grandchildren; and
his sister Mary Jane
McMurry.
Francis is preceded
in death by his
parents; his
brothers John
(Marie) and Charles
(Bridget) and is
brother-in-law
Charles “Mac”
McMurry.
