Charles J. Reinhold passed peacefully in his Arlington Heights home Saturday, July 13, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on July 9, 1930, in Chicago to Charles and Margaret (nee Mack) Reinhold.

Charles served in the United States Army in the occupation of Germany after World War II. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an AT&T Network Facilities Engineer for 35 years before retiring in December of 1988. His love of woodworking led him to commence his encore career for the Arlington Heights Park District in 1989, where he constructed the holiday display at North School Park annually for the next 15 years. Charles was a Boy Scout Scoutmaster, Indian Guide Chief, member of the VFW, avid White Sox fan, and a founding parishioner of St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. Charles loved to spend time with his family and was loved by all for his positive outlook and gentle nature.

Charles is survived by his spouse, of 56 years Roberta, whom he married August 18, 1956, in Chicago; children, Charleen (Jack) Tibbetts, Patricia (Keith) Kolvitz, Rosemarie Fern, Charles M. Reinhold, Jr., and Renee (Matt) Burns; grandchildren Cecilia (Ryan), Margaret, Joseph, Hannah, Maeve, Erin, Alyssa, Anna Grace, Lorna, and Martin; great-granddaughter, Penelope; sister, Virginia Cochran; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is this Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. In state Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 11:00 am until the time of the 12:00 pm Funeral Mass at St, Edna Catholic Church, 2525 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Interment will be graveside with military honors at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
