John E. Collins
Of Arlington Heights

John E. Collins, retired CFD, was born on November 7, 1929 in Chicago to Charles and Evelyn (nee Hough) Collins. He died Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Arlington Heights.

John worked as a Firefighter for Chicago Fire Department for 40 years He was a member of the Chicago Firefighters Union Local #2. He was also a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chicago. John loved to spend time with his family and was loved by all.

John is survived by his spouse, of 58 years, Julianna, whom he married September 18, 1954 in Chicago; his daughter, Janet (Bob Lewis) Collins-Lewis; grandchildren Michael, Douglas, and Amy Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John M. Collins, and sister, Kathleen Rohloff.

Visitation Monday, July 15, 2013 from 10:00 am until the12:00 pm Prayer Service at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will be at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association, Chicago, IL Office, 55 East Monroe Street, Suite 3420, Chicago, IL 60603.
