Susan Jane Hughes
Of Wheeling

Susan Jane Hughes was born on January 5, 1930 in Huntington, IN to Robert and Edna (Helvie) Bear. She died Sunday, June 30, 2013 in Wheeling.

Susan graduated from Roanoke High School in 1947 and attended Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio. She was a professional homemaker providing excellent love, care and supervision for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susan was also an excellent cook and loved to host many parties in her home. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, shopping, playing bridge and cribbage. Susan loved to spend time with her family and was loved by all.

Susan is survived by her spouse, of 62 years, Elwood, whom she married August 26, 1950 in Roanoke, IN; children, Ellen (Frank) Regalado, Emily Hughes, and Bill (Teresa) Hughes; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Samuel Bear.

A Celebration of Susan's Life will be held at Old Orchard Country Club, 700 West Rand Road, Mount Prospect 60056, Friday, July 5, 2013 at 12::00 pm. Interment at Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Northwest Suburban Detachment of the Marine Corps League (Toys for Tots), P.O. Box 983, Arlington Heights, IL 60004-0983.
