Michael Joseph Vincenzo
Of Mt. Prospect
Michael J. Vincenzo, formerly of Arlington Heights, was born July 18,
1930 in Chicago to Nicola and Virginia (nee Tancredi) Vincenzo. He died
on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington
Heights.
Mike loved to share laughs and smiles with his wife of 57 years and his
six children. He was a loving Papa and was especially fond of his 8
grandchildren and his 2 great-grandsons, Van and Rex. Mike and Barbara’s
marriage was filled with love, laughter and a special friendship that
began near Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX in 1953. Mike did his best to teach
his kids a strong work ethic and a love for life. He was involved with
the Knights of Columbus Holy Rosary Council and he treasured his many
lifelong friendships. While the past few years had been difficult, Mike
still found great joy and happiness through phone calls and visits with
friends and family. He was especially proud of his Italian heritage.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (nee Potter) Vincenzo whom he
married April 24, 1954 in Chicago; his children, Michael A. (Sharon)
Vincenzo, Nicholas (Kim) Vincenzo, Ginny (Don) Schroeder, Lisa Vincenzo,
Barbara (Tony DeRose) Vincenzo, and Christopher (Lori) Vincenzo; his
grandchildren, Barbara Schroeder, Nicole (Eric) Wiegel, Lauren Rosignal,
Madeline DeRose, Kristen, Annmarie, Rachel, and Zachary Vincenzo; his
great-grandsons, Van and Rex Wiegel; and his many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Angela
Pilcher.
Visitation from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, August 1, 2011at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Tuesday,
August 2, 2011at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church,
831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM.
Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.
