Joan Ellen Durand
Of Arlington Heights
Joan E. Durand was born March 13, 1932 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to
Daniel J. and Catherine (nee Bergen) Horan. She died on Tuesday, July 5,
2011 in Arlington Heights.
Mrs. Durand worked as a school nurse at the Samuel Kirk Center from 1970
until her retirement in 1994.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas J. Durand whom she
married October 13, 1956; her children, Katherine (Charles) Willett,
Thomas (Kathleen) Durand, John (Christie) Durand, Patrick (Sharon)
Durand, and William (Debbie) Durand and Mary (Mark) Bakal; her
grandchildren, Madeleine, Thomas (Christian), and Claire Durand, McKenna
and Keaton Durand, Courtney and Michael Durand, Carissa and Ryan
McDowell, Ryann, Nathan, and Hannah Durand, and Scott, Ellen and Erin
Bakal; and her siblings, Ellen Schlitzer and Dan Horan.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation from 3:00 until 9 PM, Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Glueckert
Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of
Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Friday, July 8, 2011
at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., proceeding to St. James Church, 831
N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM.
Interment private.
