John M. “Jack” Geary, 76. Retired Lt. of the Chicago Fire Department. Born on Christmas Day 1933. He passed away peacefully on July 27, 2010 surrounded by his family.
Beloved father of John T. (Tricia) , Margaret (Scott) Thomson, Peggy Rubenstein and James (Julie); Adored grandfather of Nathan, Cailin , Alexandra, Alyssa, Jack, Matthew, Madeline, Grace and Bridget; Loving companion to Jan Collins; cousin to many and friend to everyone he met. He is preceded in death by his parents John & Margaret (nee Corrigan), his infant daughter Valerie, and his lifelong best friend Richard Quagliano.
Jack was admired, respected and deeply loved by all those who knew him. During his retirement, he enjoyed working in real estate, lunches with friends, taking his family on vacations, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Grandpa’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them. His wonderful sense of humor, smile and laughter will remain with us all. His eagerness to always lend a helping hand, offer words of advice and encouragement and his love for family and friends will be missed.
Visitation 3-9 PM, Sunday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 AM, Monday, at the funeral home to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
