Elizabeth Lou Steiger
Of Prospect Heights

Elizabeth Lou Steiger was born July 17, 1928 in Chicago to Joseph and Erna (nee Zigann) LaStarge. She died July 14, 2010 at her home. She suffered with lung cancer and was given care by Hospice and her family.

In 1981, Betty and her husband, Donald, opened an instant print shop that operated for 23 years and closed in 2004. Betty had previous experience in printing was appointed President. Later in life Betty’s hobby was to paint miniature houses that were put in villages under Christmas trees. She gave many of these to family and friends as gifts.

She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Steiger, Sr., her children Wendy (Jim) Swissler of Claremont, CA, Donald (Robyn) Steiger Jr., of Hoffman Estates and Sherry (Gregory) Bryniczk of Barrington; and by her seven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and loving wife of Donald, still residing in Prospect Heights.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial visitation 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 P.M. Interment private.
