Francis J. “Bud” Matt
Life long resident Of Arlington Heights and Palatine

Francis J. “Bud” Matt was born December 2, 1935 to Frank and Janice (nee Winslow) Matt in Chicago . He died Friday July 17, 2009 at Lexington of Wheeling.

Francis graduated from Arlington High School. He was employed by Illinois Bell for 32 years until his retirement in 1985. Bud and Shirley moved to Arizona in 1985 until 1995 when they returned to be with their family. He was a member of the Young Republicans, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American, and an avid hiker and bicyclist.

His survivors include his wife of 53 years Shirley Mae (nee Schroeder) whom he married in 1956; his children Jan (Dru) Sabatello, Mary Jo (David) Mayerck, Barbara (Jeff) Dillon, David (Eva), and Chris (Lori) Matt; his grandchildren Christie (Erik) Nelson, Michael Sabatello, Sam (Fiance Danielle Baumrucker), David (Renee), and Ashley Mayerck, Jessica and Katie Dillon, Marisa Matt and Eric Matt; his great-grandchildren Alayna, Dominick, Julian, Sadie and Madison; his siblings Susan Matt, Jan Winslow, Helen Plontke, and Charles Matt.

He is preceded in death by his brother William, and his parents.

Memorial Visitation from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday July 21, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights.
