Mary Skiles McDonald Eriksen
Of Schaumburg, formerly of Arlington Heights

Mary Skiles McDonald Eriksen, 94, was born November 7, 1914 in Oak Park, IL, to Hubert and Edna (nee Rauch) Skiles. She died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Sunrise of Schaumburg.

Mary was an accomplished artist, and some of her work was displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago. She supported the community arts, and she was a former founder of the Countryside Art Center. She loved to travel all over the world and was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her children Susan (James) Kolb, Douglas (Jean) McDonald, and Kristen (Joe) Schurtz; Grandchildren Lisa, Michael, Laura, Kelly, Erik, and Luke; and her Great-Grandchildren Nikolas, Acacia, and Abrom.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Francis “Bud” E. McDonald, and Peter B. Eriksen; and siblings James (Late Virginia), Eleanor, and Robert Skiles.

Visitation Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church 342 E. Wood St., Palatine from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
