Geraldine W. Smith was born in Villisca, Iowa on June 19, 1923 to Albert B. and Grace H. (nee Pierce) Welsh.  She passed away July 15, 2006 at her home in Arlington Heights.

Geraldine was active at Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights for over 40 years.  She served as Chairman of the Women of Faith Club, Chairman of the Faith Lutheran Church Bazaar and also served on the alter guild.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey J. whom she married on June 19, 1946, her children, Gregory (Joyce) Smith of Fullerton, Ca. and Catherine (Arthur) Ekberg of Arlington Heights, her grandchildren, Stephanie Ekberg of South Elgin, Jennifer (Aaron) Clarke of San Carlos, Ca., Christopher Smith of Brea, Ca. and Kelly Smith of Fullerton, Ca., her great-granddaughter, Emily Clarke, and her sister-in-law, Eunice Welsh of Irving, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her brother Herbert Welsh.

Visitation Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thursday, July 17, 2006 at Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S. Arlington Heights Rd., In state at church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Entombment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
