Chester Henry Fanslow
of Elk Grove Village
Chester Henry Fanslow, a 49 year resident of Elk Grove Village, was born
December 14, 1920 in Chicago, to August and Anna (nee Schroeder) Fanslow.
He died July 10, 2005 at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago.
Mr. Fanslow was the owner of Fanzal Tool and Die Company in Rosemont for
20 years before retiring in the late 1980's.
He served in the Navy during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal
from injuries received in battle. Chester was honored for his valiant
efforts insaving the lives of his Navy comrades after being torpedoed
during WWII and floating for 15 days aboard a lifeboat in the North
Atlantic. He was a member of DAV Chapter #47 and was a founding member
and volunteer fireman of the Elk Grove Volunteer Fire Dept.
Chester was a wonderful husband and father; survived by his wife of 57
yearsLoretta (nee Golab) whom he married March 13, 1948; his children
ArleneSnyder of Schaumburg, Joyce Keane of Itasca, and Leroy Fanslow of
Port
Barrington; his grandchildren Scott Snyder, Jennifer, Brian and Kevin
Keane;his sister-in-law Helen Golab, his brother-in-law Art Golab; his
many niecesand nephews and his faithful companion Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his six brothers, his
brother-in-law Ed Golab.
Memorial Service at 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 14 at the Glueckert
Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of
Palatine Road) Arlington Heights where the family will receive guests
from 10:00 AM until time of the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Arthritis
Foundation, 303 E. Wacker Dr., Suite 300, Chicago 60601. |
