Charlie Bettis
Of Bloomingdale
Charlie Bettis was born on November 13, 1950 in
Leesburg, VA. He died June 22, 2013 in
Bloomingdale.
Charlie worked as a horse trainer for C/B Racing
Stable of Illinois. He groomed "Spectacular Bid"
for the Kentucky Derby and was an assistant
trainer for "Black Tie Affair". For over 40
years, Charlie worked with a passion in
thoroughbred racing to provide excellence to the
sport. Charlie had a great love for animals
especially horses and cats.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Renee
Strong and Ericka Tesfa; grandchildren Alexis
Sherrod, Andre Sherrod II, Ryan Strong and
Yordanos Tesfa; mother, Helen Reed; siblings,
Joan Reed, Evelyn Reed, Diane Reed,Robert Reed,
James Reed, John Reed Jr.; 6 nephews and 5
nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janell; and
brother, Stanley Reed.
Memorial Visitation to be held Friday June 28,
2013 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm, with a 1:00
pm Memorial Service, at Arlington Park
Racecourse, International Room, 2200 West Euclid
Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. His final
resting place will be in Leesburg, VA.
