Cecilia “Casey” M. Dougherty

Cecilia M. Dougherty, age 75, beloved wife of 43 years to the late Henry, passed away June 9, 2013 surrounded by family. Devoted mother of Jeaninne (Perry) Carlini and Elizabeth Lehnert. Loving grandmother of Anthony, Vincent, Sophia, and Andrew. Caring sister of Katherine Holland, Roberta Leggett and the late Loretta Case; aunt to Janet, Jill, Kerri, Andy and Donnie; and great-aunt to Ashlee.

Cecilia was born on March 24, 1938 in Dennison, Ohio to Donald and Mary Frances (nee Roby) Case. She graduated Immaculate Conception High School. She started her career as a flight attendant and moved to Buffalo Grove, IL. Cecilia “Casey” flew for American Airlines for 35 years on both Domestic and International flights. She was honored with many awards and also received the title of Purser. During a special charter flight, she had the privilege of flying U.S. Troops home from the first Gulf War.


She retired to Las Vegas in 1997, enjoying golf, tennis, bridge and entertaining friends. She traveled on many guided tours to Europe and even saw the Great Wall of China. Cecilia returned to Illinois in 2011 to be close to her daughters and grandchildren.

Visitation Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Family will receive friends also from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
