William G. Simon
Of Arlington Heights

William G. Simon was born on June 13, 1924 in Chicago to William and Marie (nee Kuehn) Simon. He passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home in Arlington Heights.

William served in the Navy during WWII. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He loved spending time with his wife and family at his summer home in Eagle Harbor, Michigan. William founded Route 12 Rental in 1964. He had a unique way with mechanical things and enjoyed tinkering, vintage engines and machinery, woodworking, cigars and baking bread in his wood burning cook stove in Michigan.

William is survived by his spouse of 67 years, Frances; his children, Jane (Leonard) Witter, William Jr. (Joyce E.) Simon, Nancy M. Simon and George (Rachelle) Simon; his grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan, Jason, Amy, Susie, William, John, Nicole, Michelle, Adam, Joshua, Trevor, Ellen, Maryanna and Daisy; his great-grandchildren, Asa, Hannah, Ava, Shayla, Ian, Keira and Nathan

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to his favorite charity, the Salvation Army, 5040 N. Pulaski Rd., Chicago, IL 60630.
