Kenneth Edward Schaller
Of Arlington Heights
Kenneth Edward Schaller was born March 20, 1924 in Dorchester, Illinois,
to Theodore and Frances (nee Hauschild) Schaller. He passed away on
Friday, June 4, 2010 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington
Heights.
Mr. Schaller served as a B-17 pilot stateside in the Army Air Corps
during World War II. He graduated from Washington University St. Louis
and received his master’s degree in history from the University of
Wisconsin. His career as a history, social studies and English teacher
included 30 years at Arlington High School where he served as department
chairman. He coached the Arlington High School Tennis Team to a 1969
State Championship. He was a member of the U.S. Tennis Association,
where he was nationally ranked in the Men’s 70’s Singles in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie (nee Knoch) Schaller
whom he married June 6, 1953; his daughter, Nora (Tamon) Green, and
extended family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Craig
Morrison.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with a Celebration of his Life
at 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.,
1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road)
Arlington Heights. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday,
June 9, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. Interment service is at
St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Columbia and North Ave. in Naperville at
1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to NJTL
programming (National Junior Tennis League) on behalf of Ken Schaller to
Chicago Tennis Patrons, Inc., 2200 E. Devon Ave., Suite 319, Des
Plaines, IL 60018.
