Of Mt. Prospect
William F. Gallagher was born on March 25, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to William and Catherine (nee Chambers) Gallagher. He passed away peacefully on May 31, 2009.
After spending two years in the US Army in Korea, Bill had a 35 year career in the automotive specialty pigment field that took him to all 48 states, Canada, Germany and France. He was also involved in the Indy car racing circuit. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and worked with them on charitable endeavors. Bill was an avid sports fan, a member of the St. James golf League and spent many years in the men’s choir -- He loved his music.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia A. (nee Singler); his devoted children, Kathleen (Art) Stevens, Marianne (Ed) Salisbury, Janet (Steve) Schwellenbach, William J. Gallagher and Patricia (John) Ruleau; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Patrick, Sean, Maureen, Kevin, Tom, Brian, Jackie, Tracy, Erin, Megan, Joe, Mike, Alexandria, Dianna and Erica; his sister-in-law, Lee Singler; his brother-in-law, Ed Singler; and many nieces and nephews in the Cleveland Ohio area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his five sisters and two brothers of the Cleveland Ohio area;
Visitation from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 11:15 AM Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 12:00 Noon. Interment private.
