Of Palatine
George E. Bethel was born March 3, 1937 in Lebanon, MO to Eldon R. and Josephine (nee Lawler) Bethel. He died June 5, 2009 at the Rainbow Hospice Ark in Park Ridge.
His business career allowed him to work in varied fields and required frequent travel. In retirement he continued to enjoy traveling, photography, and scrapbooking. He also devoted significant time to volunteer work, especially at St. James Parish in Arlington Heights. He affected the lives of all who knew him, and made a lasting impression upon both his family and his community.
George is survived by his wife, Patricia R. (nee Rehagen), whom he married on November 18, 1960 in Berlin, Germany; his children, Tresie (Mark) Curcio of Lake Zurich and Col. Scott (Laura) Bethel of San Antonio, TX; and his grandchildren, Blaine, Griffin, Addie, James, Joy, and Josiah.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother James (Barbara) Bethel.

Prayers 9:15 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10 AM.
