Elizabeth R. Whitnell
Of Arlington Heights

Elizabeth Regina Whitnell was born April 3, 1924 in Scranton, Iowa to Edward and Gertrude (nee Hennessey) Holden. She died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Westbury Care Center in Lisle.

As an new bride, Elizabeth moved to Chicago and worked at Better Homes and Gardens before becoming a homemaker. Elizabeth and family moved to Arlington Heights in 1959. IN addition to being an active member of Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Elizabeth was a long time volunteer at Northwest Community Hospital and an avid Bridge player.

Her survivors include her children James Whitnell of Riverside, Calif., Jane (John) Crocker of Tavernier, Fla., Jeffrey (Marisa) Whitnell of Lake Forest and John (Lori) Whitnell of Lisle; her grandchildren John IV and Janan Crocker, William, Vanessa, Veronica, Lt. Bradley (Laura Leigh) and Bennett Whitnell.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband Verne, her parents, her sister Kay Kidwell, her brother Edward Holden and her daughter-in-law Patty.

Memorial Mass 9:30 AM, Monday, June 9, 2008 at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights. Mass will be followed by a reception with light refreshments at the Parish Hall. Committal service 9:30 AM, Tuesday, June 10 in Scranton, Iowa.
