Iris K. Arrasmith
Of Rolling Meadows
Iris K. Arrasmith, age 92, was born April 19, 1914 in Muskegon, MI to Cassius A. and Rose (nee Allsop) Kitchen. She passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights, IL.
Mrs. Arrasmith worked as at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago as a nurse’s aide for several years. She also worked with children in the Awana Club and she was a foster mother who gave her love to over 60 children in her home. Iris was honored by Mrs. Richard J. Daley as one of the finalists for “Foster Mother of the Year”. She was a member of the Meadows Baptist Church in Rolling Meadows, IL and a member of the Gideon’s International.
Iris is survived by her daughters, Carol (Gene) Christopher of Rolling Meadows, IL and Alice K. Burgin of Arlington, WA; her grandchildren, David (Toni) Christopher, Carol (David) Oddo, Lynda (Bryan) Reehoff, Van Auston Christopher, Daniel Burgin, Brian Burgin, and Heather Burgin; her great-grandchildren, Crystal (Exequiel) Parada, Joshua Oddo, Jackie Reehoff, Derek Oddo, Crystal Christopher, Jason Reehoff, Kelsey Oddo, Auston Christopher, Jacob Oddo, Michael Christopher, Dean Reehoff, Kelly Christopher, and Katrina Burgin; her great-great-grandchildren, Noah Parada and Brenden Parada; and her sisters, Rose Strayer of IN and June Albertson of CA.
She was preceded in death on September 23, 1983 by her husband, Leroy E. Arrasmith, whom she married on November 25, 1937 and her parents.
Visitation from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (four blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. She will lie in state 1:30 PM until time of Funeral services at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Plato Methodist Church, 0340 South 500 East, LaGrange, IN. Pastor Russell Hepler. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Iris’s name to Meadows Baptist Church, 2401 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 or to the Gideon’s International, 50 Century Boulevard, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
