Helen Stewart Sherman
Of Arlington Heights

Helen Stewart Sherman was born January 28, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland to William Livingston and Agnes Marie (nee Burns) Stewart. She died Friday, June 24, 2005 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Sherman was raised in Baltimore, Maryland where she graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School. She resided in Kenilworth for 37 years and is a former member of Saints Faith, Hope and Charity Catholic Church. She was member of the Women's Republican Club of New Trier Township. For the past eight years Mrs. Sherman and her husband have resided in Luther Village and were members of St. James Catholic Church. Helen was a loving mother, gifted artist and dedicated volunteer. Helen will be remembered by her family and friends as lively, warm and generous.

Her survivors include her husband of 64 years, John Warrington Sherman, whom she married January 25, 1941 in Baltimore; her children Nancy (Peter) Rumsey of Nashville, Tenn., Patricia (James) Grimshaw of Darien, Conn., Rosemary (Steven) Bono of Kenilworth and Carol (Joseph) Allen of Cary; her 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law Margaret Case.

Helen is preceded in death by her son John Warrington Sherman II.

Visitation Thursday from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at the Lutheran Home and Services, 800 W. Oakton, Arlington Heights. Prayers will be held 9:15 AM, Friday, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights proceeding to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be at All Saints Mausoleum, Des Plaines.
