Francis J. "Frank" Dawson
Of Schaumburg

Francis J. "Frank" Dawson was born on December 10, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN to Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Kraft) Dawson. He died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines.

Frank worked for 38 years at People's Gas Light and Coke Company of Chicago where he was a member of the American Legion Post #336. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was also a long-time volunteer for seniors on health insurance and tax issues.

Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Valerie (nee Pocevich); his seven children, Steven (Patricia M.) Dawson of Aurora, Susan Dawson-Tibbits of Peoria, Jean Dawson of McHenry, Janet (Chris) Baumann of Rolling Meadows, John E. Dawson of Waukegan, Teresa E. Dawson of Arlington, VA and Patricia L. Dawson of Geneva; his six grandchildren, Debra (Aaron) White, Elizabeth Dawson, Christine (Eric) Cavanaugh, Andrew (Heather) Dawson, Gordon (Jennifer) Dawson-Tibbits, and Rebecca Wasniewski; his five great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ethan and Abigail White, Morgan Cavanaugh and Weston Shepherd; and his sister, Loretta Connelly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother; his brother and sister-in-law, Ambrose and Mickie Dawson; and his brother-in-law, John Connelly.

Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL. Prayers 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Funeral Home, proceeding to St. Hubert Catholic Church, 729 Grand Canyon St., Schaumburg for Mass at 10:00 am. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
