C.J. Loebel
Of Arlington Heights
C.J. “Red” Loebel was born April 22, 1924 in
Milwaukee, WI to John and Helen (nee Ruben)
Loebel. He died May 10, 2013 at his home in
Arlington Heights.
C.J. was an insurance industry executive
throughout his career. He had three great loves-
his wife and family, his time flying 35 sorties
with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters during World War II as
a B-24 navigator in Italy, for which he was
awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC),
and playing tennis.
C.J. is survived by his wife JoAnn (nee
Schowalter) Loebel; his children Jeanne (Bill)
Brantman, Mary Jo (Tom) Flood, John (Jill
Powers) Loebel, Vicki (late Joe) Mather, Beth
(Chris) Ligenza and Tom (Vandana) Loebel; his
grandchildren Laura (Bart), Anne (Lee), Lisa
(Randy), Katy (Matt), Megan, John (Jenni),
Matthew, Joe (Michelle), Carrie (Jason), Bill,
Tom, Max, Tate, Henry and Ronan; his great
grandchildren Tucker, Renni, Cole, Sage and
Aubryana.
C.J. is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 13, 2013
from 9:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church,
2515 W. Palatine Rd., Inverness until the time
of Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment private
