William A. Wagner
Of Arlington Heights
William A. Wagner was born on June 4, 1930 in Barrington to Wilbur and
Elizabeth (nee Kolle) Wagner. He died Sunday, May 27, 2012, with his
family at his side.
Mr. Wagner graduated from Arlington Heights Township High School in
1948, and went on to earn a business degree from Wright Junior College.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After retiring from
SCM Corporation, with 35 years of service, Bill worked for the U.S.
Postal Service. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed playing baseball
and volleyball. He participated in many park district leagues and was a
lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Bears.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth A. (nee Eberenz)
Wagner whom he married on July 18, 1953 in San Rafael, California; his
loving children Cynthia (Dan) Davenport, Lisa (Peter Piet) Wagner,
Cheryl (Robert) Strom, and Thomas Wagner; his loved grandchildren,
Marisa (Chris) Sheppard, Daniel (Jessica) Davenport, Cameron, Brandon,
and Alexis Strom; his dear great-grandchildren, Elsie and Danny
Davenport; and his fond sister, Jean Kring.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Wagner; and by his
parents.
Visitation from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at
Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights. Family Remembrance 11:00 am,
Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington
Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment private.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donors’ choice.
