Edward R. “Butch” Friese
46 year resident of Arlington Heights

Edward R. “Butch” Friese was born September 12, 1929 in Chicago to Edward F. and Lydia M. (nee Wichert) Friese. He died on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Ed served as a Sergeant with the 33rd Quartermaster of the Illinois National Guard for ten years. He enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, tennis, and golf. Ed loved being a faithful and active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was an Industrial Engineer for Teletype / AT&T in Skokie. Among his most cherished times were those spent at the cottage in Lake Geneva, playing backyard badminton, family vacations, and get-togethers with many special friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores (nee Warneke) Friese, whom he married August 22, 1953; his children, Beth (Lee) Zimmermann, Rev. Robert Friese, and Judy (Steve) Farwig; his grandchildren, Summer (Matthew) Sander, Luke (Erin) Zimmermann, Laura and Erika Farwig, and his great-grandson, Hayden Sander; and his sister, Lorraine (Walter) Baermann.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd.,(four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights and from 10:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights. Interment is at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a fund established in Butch’s name at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
