Marian G. Franke
Of Rolling Meadows

Marian G. Franke was born November 23, 1926 in Detroit to Gilbert and Bertha (nee Davis) Gerken. She died May 4, 2009 at her home in Rolling Meadows.

Mrs. Franke was a long time resident of Elk Grove Village. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Chicago in 1949. She had her first nursing appointment at St. Luke’s Hospital. She also worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago and subsequently at many other hospitals in the Northwest area including Lutheran General, Holy Family, Alexian Brothers and Northwest Community Hospital. For 17 years Mrs. Franke took great pride in her volunteer work at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. She was an avid golfer and she and her husband loved to travel.

Marian is survived by her husband Charles E. Franke; loving mother of Jill (Michael) Makis, Kathleen Franke and Jeffrey (Joan) Franke; cherished grandmother of Matthew (Jen) and Jason (Courtney) Makis, Jonathan and Benjamin Adelman, Charles, Eric, and Kellie Franke and proud great grandmother of Jada Makis.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation Thursday May 7, 2009 from 4 PM until 8 PM, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd.,(four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights and Friday May 8, 2009 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 11 AM, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights. Interment Private,.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL or to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
