Herman Kottke
Of Inverness

Herman Kottke, former long-time resident of Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago, was born May 9, 1927 in Chicago to Herman and Elizabeth (nee Mostl) Kottke. He died Monday, May 7, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Kottke was an officer with the Chicago Police Department for 32 years before retiring in 1986. He served in the Army during WW II, was a member of the FOP Lodge, Chicago Northshore Elks Lodge #1316 and AARP.

Herman’s survivors include his wife of 58 years Juliann M. nee Schmaus whom he married September 25, 1948; his children Elizabeth A. (Peter) Hicks of Mt. Prospect, Herman J. Kottke of Santa Ana, Calif., Louis J. (Victoria) Kottke of Chicago and Mary A. (Brian) Kelly of Maple Grove, Minnesota; his grandchildren Tara (Nicholas) DeLuca, Louis J. (Nadine) Kottke, Tori (Jeffrey) Hicks-Glogowski, John P. Kottke, Jennifer J. Hicks, Michael J. (Angela) Hicks, Richard H. Welch, Grace Kelly and April Kelly; his great grandchildren Joshua, Zachary and Olivia Deluca and Mia Kottke.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Julie A. Branick and his parents.

Visitation from 4:00 until 9:00 PM, Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights and Friday, May 11, 2007 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment private
