Vernon E. Verstraete
Of Wheeling

Vernon E. Verstraete was born in Kewanee, IL on October 31, 1923 to Lawrence and Nina (nee Coan) Verstraete.  He passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006 in Arlington Heights.

Vernon began his career at the Baker Park Golf Course in Kewanee, Illinois as the Park Superintendent.  He worked as the golf coach for the Blackhawk East Junior College in Kewanee and spent time as the Park Superintendent for the Kewanee Park District.  He spent over 25 years as the golf pro at Chevy Chase Golf Club in Wheeling.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vivian (nee Lammens), his sons, Jim (the late Margie) of Kewanee, John David of Dallas, TX and Donald "Ozzie" (Mary) of Carrollton, TX, his daughter, Connie (Dave) Younglove of Kewanee, his grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua David, Leah, Matthew and Todd, his great-grandchildren, Rylee, David, Matthew, and Ashtyn Marie, his sisters, Marge Brand of Portand, OR and Carol (Keith) Petterson of Kewanee, and his nieces, Sue Orme, Patty Stacy and Bekke Johnson.

Visitation Friday, May 12, 2006, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at  St. Edna Catholic Church 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.  Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM.  Interment Wethersfield Cemetery, Kewanee, IL
