Richard V. Brokaw, Sr.
Of Buffalo Grove
Richard V. Brokaw, Sr., formerly of Wheeling, was born October 18, 1923,
in Granite City, Illinois to Everett and Lillian (nee Black) Brokaw. He
died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in
Arlington
Heights.
Mr. Brokaw served for over 27 years in the military for both the Army
and later the Air Force and was a veteran of WW II and the Korean War
and was awarded a Bronze Star and several distinguished service
commendations. He
was an aircraft and also a radar mechanic. After retiring from the Air
Force, Richard worked for 10 years for Illinois Bell Telephone as a
circuit repair and troubleshooter.
His survivors include his son Richard V. (Judy) Brokaw, Jr. of Hoffman
Estates, his daughter Barbara Murphy of Buffalo Grove; step-daughter
Faye Kenney of Aiea, Hawaii; his grandchildren Jennifer Brokaw, Marshall
Andres, Deneen Andres, Kaipo Kenney, Jr., Kelii Kenney and five great
grandchildren; his siblings Shirley (Jerry) Parmley, Joyce (Daniel)
Evans, Ervin (Mildred) Brokaw, Jerry Brokaw, Norman Brokaw and Kenneth
(Marlene) Brokaw.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Mary and son-in-law Richard
Kenney.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the
Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks
south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights. Interment will be at Memory
Gardens Cemetery. Visitation Friday, June 3, 2005 from 3:00 until 9:00
PM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd.
