Elizabeth Amirante
Of Arlington Heights
Elizabeth Amirante was born on October 26, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to
Lorenzo and Filomena (nee Suriano) Airdo. She died Sunday, April 1, 2012
at Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights.
Mrs. Amirante “Liz” was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister,
aunt, favorite in-law and friend to many. She is best remembered by
those in her life for her love and kindness, which was the main
ingredient in countless home cooked meals, most notably Liz’s neck bone
gravy and meatballs.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Retired Judge Sam (Deanna) Amirante;
her grandchildren Samuel, James and Sofiabella; her great grandson
Vincent; her sister Phyllis her brothers Joseph and Lawrence Airdo.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sam, and all of his siblings,
who she loved as her own sisters and brothers; her parents; and her
loving siblings James, Jerry and Angelina.
Visitation, today from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at
Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks
south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights and Wednesday from 7:30 am
until 8:15 am. Funeral Mass 10 AM, Wednesday at Shrine of Our Lady of
Pompeii, 1224 W. Lexington St., Chicago, IL 60607. Funeral procession
will start after Mass from the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii to Queen of
Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, for interment.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Shrine of Our Lady of
Pompeii or Heartland Hospice, 220 N. Smith St. Suite 420, Palatine, IL
60067.
