John J. Finnerty, Jr.

John J. Finnerty, Jr. was born October 4, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana to John Joseph Sr. and Catherine C. (nee O’Brien) Finnerty. He died on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Manor Care of Northbrook.

Mr. Finnerty served in the Army, and was the owner of Finnerty Company, an Air Pollution Control Company for 35 years. He was a choir member at Our Lady of the Wayside Church; he was an avid golfer, and loved traveling and sailing.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (nee Barnes) Finnerty whom he married December 28, 1955; his children, John J. III (Julie) Finnerty, Colleen Finnerty (Chris) Blevins, Patrick Owen (Angela) Finnerty; his grandchildren, Megan, Sean, and Morgan Finnerty, Quinn and Talia Blevins, Bridgit, and Pierce Finnerty, McKenna, Brennan, and Brogan Finnerty; his siblings, Mary Margaret Finnerty (Albert) Rhoa, and James Dennis Finnerty.

John is preceded in death by his son, Kevin James (the late Patricia) Finnerty; his grandson, Garrett; and his parents.

Visitation from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 8:45 AM, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780.
