Fumiko “Jo” Buchanan
Of Arlington Heights
Fumiko “Jo” Buchanan, formerly of Elgin, was born February 9, 1921 in
Chicago to Konosuke and Eque (nee Tomita) Okamoto. She passed away on
Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington
Heights.
Mrs. Buchanan worked as an office manager for the State of Illinois
Department of Mental Health for 30 years until her retirement in 1970.
She was a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Elgin.
She is survived by her siblings, Shigeo (Aiko) Okamoto, and Toshio
(Sachiko) Okamoto; her brother in law, Frank Sugino; loving aunt of many
nieces and nephews; and friend to many.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Buchanan; and her
siblings, Takashi Okamoto, Sumiko Sugino, and Mari (Al) Tomiyama.
Memorial Service 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Lutheran Home
and Services St. John’s Chapel, 800 W. Oakton, Arlington Heights.
Interment private.
