Betty J. Miner
Of Rolling Meadows since 1955
Betty J. Miner was born November 9, 1928 in Evanston to William and
Selma (nee Anderson) Lanning. She died on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at
Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Betty was an original resident of Rolling Meadows and an active member
of the Community Church of Rolling Meadows for over 50 years. She worked
for many years as a bookkeeper for Crawfords. Known for her baking and
cake decorating skills, her homemade “Betty Bread” and peanut brittle
were cherished by family, friends and the occasional visitors
(paramedics and deliverymen). She also kept the squirrels, rabbits, and
birds well fed. She was a quietly giving person to all and made everyone
feel like a special friend.
She is survived by her children, Jo Ann (Robert) Nellemann of Arlington
Heights, Bill (Patty) Miner of Long Grove, Mark (Kathy) Miner of Neenah,
Wisconsin, and Beth (the late Jovan Kadar) Miner of Schaumburg; her
grandchildren, Christian and Jonathan Nellemann, Michael, Megan, and
Terry Miner; her sister, Phyllis (Joe) Denton of Rolling Meadows; her
sister-in-law, Nancy Lanning; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and
nephews; cousins, and many dear friends.
Betty is preceded in death by husband Howard, whom she married September
11, 1948 in Evanston; her parents; and her brother, Ronald Lanning.
Memorial visitation Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 10:30 AM until the time
of memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Community Church of Rolling
Meadows, 2720 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made at any Harris Bank to the Betty and Howie’s
Helping Hands fund.
