Linda Joan (Miller) Armstrong

Linda Joan (Miller) Armstrong was born April 15, 1949, in Waterbury, Connecticut to Leonard and Mary (Pace) Miller. She died peacefully March 25, 2010 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

After graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in Waterbury, Connecticut, Linda worked as an executive secretary and a dance instructor for Arthur Murray. She later married and moved to Illinois. Linda retired from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in 2009 after serving as a valued support staff member for over 20 years primarily in the Communication Arts division and most recently in the Testing Center.

As a giving, warm-hearted woman, Linda volunteered at various homeless shelters and with her Homeowner’s Association. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening, reading and tending to her poodle, PJ. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Her survivors include her only daughter Kelly (Ronald) Barr of Channahon; her grandchildren Kailyn and Carter; her sisters Patricia (John) DeLorenzo of Cheshire, Connecticut and Mary (Joseph) Doner of Waterbury Connecticut. Linda is also survived by her ex-husband and friend, Edward Armstrong of Elk Grove Village.

Linda is preceded in death by her two brothers and parents.

Memorial Service from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
