Irma E. Engelmann Of Arlington Heights Irma E. Engelmann was born on February 28, 1933 in Heidekrug, Germany to Wilhelm and Elsa (nee Plokstys) Reichwaldt. She went to be with her Lord on April 4, 2010 in Naples, FL. Irma immigrated to the U.S. after surviving harrowing experiences during WWII. Shortly thereafter she met and married the love of her life, Werner Engelmann. Dedicated to the Lord and her family, Irma was a wonderful mother to her two sons and to many of the kids in the youth group at Christian Fellowship Church where she faithfully served as the church treasurer. As a member of the Hersey High School cafeteria staff, she was grateful for the friendships she developed over the 18 years she was there. In 1996, Irma and Werner became U.S. citizens, 40 years after having immigrated. In her later years, she was most happy when serving a warm German meal around the family dinner table. She is survived by her husband, Werner; her sons, Rainer (Kathy) of Hoffman Estates and Harold (Pamela) of Deer Park; her grandsons, Caleb and Bode; her sister, Ruth; and her three brothers, Erich, Gerhard and Valter.
