Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, Let us celebrate how brightly it burned.

Visitation celebrating the life of Christopher P. Steele will be from 3 to 9 pm, Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (four blocks south of Palatine Rd. Arlington Heights.

The celebration will continue with prayers at 9 am Tuesday, April 12, 2006 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove.

Chris, the son of Tom and Ellen Steele, was born on May 15, 1982, and passed away on Friday, April 7, 2006, after a valiant two-year battle with brain cancer. Throughout, he maintained his sense of humor and was more concerned for those supporting him than he was for himself.

Chris graduated from Stevenson High School in 2000 and attended Carthage College and Illinois State University.

He was a talented athlete who played baseball and hockey in high school and bowled in the prestigious Northend Junior Traveling League (and still had the program's all-time season's high average). He later bowled for the ISU team and in various local men's leagues, achieving two 200 games.

In addition to his parents, Chris is loved by his grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Pertile; aunts and uncles, Michael and Gerianne Steele, Barbara and Steve Changelon, Chuck and Sheree Pertile and Jerry and Beth Pertile; and many cousins and friends, especially Ian, Kevin, Mitch and Scooter.

He's joined his grandparents, Dorothy and Harry Steele, in heaven.

Chris requested no flowers. Instead, donations to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607, in his memory are appreciated.
