Joseph Cooney
Of Arlington Heights

Joseph Cooney, formerly of Tucson, Ariz. and Villa Park, was born February 14, 1925 in Springfield, Illinois to William and Florence (nee Fitzpatrick) Cooney. He died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Cooney was an engineer for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for over 44 years before he retired in 1990. He served in the Army during WW II.

Joseph's survivors include his children Mary (Edward) Smetana of Arlington Heights, Elizabeth (Norman) Englbrecht of Palatine, Eileen Cooney of Forest Park, Joseph Jr. (Laurie) Cooney of Sandwich, Teresa Stuart of Oak Park, Dr. Edward (Dr. Jill) Cooney of White Fish Bay, Wisc., and James (Karen) Cooney of Geneva, Ill.; his 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; his brother Rev. Fr. Robert Cooney and his sisters-in-law Patricia and Anne Cooney.

He is preceded in death by his wife Sara.

Visitation Saturday, April 23, 2005 from 9:00 AM until time of prayers at 10:30 AM at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, proceeding to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights for Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
