Philip P. Haag
Of Arlington Heights
Philip P. Haag was born September 13, 1924 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to
Philip and Pauline (nee Petrich). He died Saturday at Alden-Long Grove
Healthcare Center in Long Grove, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Mr. Haag was raised in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He entered the Army in
July of 1943 and was discharged in February 1946, spending most of his
service time in England. He enrolled at the University of Wisconsin in
Madison in June of 1946 and graduated with a B.B.A. in June of 1949.
He met his wife Mary while attending college. Philip worked for Ernst &
Ernst as an auditor from July 1949 until May of 1960 and later for Bell
& Howell where he held various accounting positions including corporate
controller and chief accounting officer before retiring in June of 1987.
He was an active St. Peter Lutheran Church member, where he served on
the Stewardship and Finance Committees. Mr. Haag was also active with
A.A.L. as branch Treasurer. Philip served as treasurer for six years for
The Friends of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. He enjoyed
traveling, playing golf and stamp collecting.
He survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary nee Reinhardt, whom he married
May 20, 1950 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin; the children he was so proud of
Barbara (Richard) Shell of Grinnell, Iowa, Martha (David) Behlow of
Oswego, William (Mary) Haag of Hoffman Estates and Christine (Kevin)
Deans of Arlington Heights; his grandchildren Jonathan and Laura Behlow,
Adam Shell and Jason Deans; and his sisters Phyllis Pangborn, Marion
(Donald) Meyer, and Marjorie (Robert) Kuhl.
Philip was preceded into death by his parents and his brother-in-law
Jack Pangborn.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at St.
Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive Street, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2005 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00
P.M. at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights
Road, Arlington Heights and Wednesday at Church from 10:00 AM until the
time of service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials
may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
