Richard J. “Dick” Dvoratchek, Sr.
was born on July 29, 1928 in Chicago
to Jacob and Mary (nee Salzinger)
Dvoratchek. He passed away Saturday,
March 23, 2013 surrounded by many of
his loving family.
Dick proudly chose to serve his
country in the Navy during the
Korean War. Upon his honorable
discharge, Dick enjoyed a 40 year
career working for Illinois Bell
Telephone. Dick and Nanette raised
their family while residing in
Chicago’s Forest Glen neighborhood
for 40 years. Dick lived his life to
the fullest while loving his Lord &
Savior Jesus Christ, lovingly
serving his family, friends, and
others he met. He also shared his
abundant love with many dogs over
the years, especially Brandy & Gina.
Dick loved spending time at the lake
with his large family.
Richard is survived by his spouse of
62 years, whom he married August 8,
1950 at Queen of Angels Church,
Nanette (nee Monahan) Dvoratchek. He
was the proud father of six
children, Richard Jr. (Kathleen) of
Elkhorn, WI, Cathleen (James) Russo
of Chicago, James (Jeanine) of
Arlington Hts., Lawrence (Mary) of
Antioch, Diane (Jeffery) Scaduto of
Davis and Sandra (Charles) Tannehill
of Chicago; twenty-one
grandchildren, Jennifer (Stephen)
Weightman, Daniel (Erica) Dvoratchek,
Patrick Dvoratchek, Nicholas Russo,
Adam (Logan) Russo, Kelli Russo,
Libby Russo, Emily (Ryan) Hammer,
Lisa (Michael) Crilly, Corrie
(Jordan) Krula, Michael Dvoratchek,
Michael Hobolich, Paul Hobolich,
Chance Dvoratchek, Madison
Dvoratchek, Max Scaduto, Julie
Scaduto, Ian Tannehill, Jacob
Tannehill, Charlie Tannehill, and
Kayla Tannehill; seven
great-grandchildren, Nico and Alex
DeMarco, Mason and Cooper Dvoratchek,
Patrick Jr. Dvoratchek, Jonathan
Russo and Owen Hammer; his brother,
Jacob (Mary) Dvoratchek; his
sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Lavery,
Jean Martin, Patty (Nick) Bellissimo
and brother-in-law, Chuck (Gayle)
Monahan and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his
sister, Mary; his granddaughter,
Michelle Hobolich; his nephew,
Daniel Dvoratchek; and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 3pm to
8pm Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at
Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N.
Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington
Heights. In state 9:00am, Wednesday,
April 3, 2013 at St. Edna Catholic
Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights
Rd., Arlington Heights until time of
funeral Mass at 10:00am. Burial will
be at St. Joseph Cemetery, River
Grove.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be
given to American Lung Assn. of
