Herbert Carl Laubenstein

Herbert Carl Laubenstein was born on March 14, 1922 in Saukville, Wisconsin to John and Amanda (nee Braeger) Laubenstein. He died on March 18, 2013 at Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Newburg, Wisconsin. Herb was a teacher, principal and counselor during his 40 years in education, serving at Apostles Lutheran School, Franklin Park, IL, First Lutheran School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Luther High School South, Chicago, and Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect.

He married Ruth (Nauss) on June 24, 1949, and is loving father to Linda (Francis) Mundt, Carol (Ken) Larsen, John, and Richard (Maria); grandfather to Jayla (Bret) Poppleton, children Asher, Isaac, and Theo; Trevor (Cassidy) Ryan; Tara (Kerry) Cox, children Jameson, Avery, and Emma; Kristin (Joseph) Catalano, baby Audrey; Gregory Laubenstein; Peter Laubenstein; U.S. Marine Pfc. Taylor Mundt; and Paul Larsen.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 22, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive, Arlington Heights from 5 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23 at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 11:00 AM preceding the service. Burial will be private at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.

Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church Generation Next, or the American Heart Association.
