Of Arlington Heights

Barbara Andree Hanner, 82, of Marco Island, Florida and Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2013 in Naples, Florida after a long battle with cancer.  Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 24, 1930, she was a graduate of Amundsen High School and attended classes at Northwestern University, where she pursued a life-long love of theater arts.  In addition to being a wife and mother, Barbara spent time working at Colvin Communications and was devoted to the Service League for Handicapped Children, where she made life-long friends with several colleagues.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Andree (nee Eicherl) and father, Michael Andree; her sister Alice Wilson and brother-in-law, Harry Wilson, nephew Stuart Wilson; and numerous loved and loving cousins and friends.  She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Emil Hanner; sister-in-law, Alice Lamm; sons Jerry and Gregg Hanner, daughters-in-law Patty and Amy Hanner; and 7 Hanner grandchildren, Jennifer, Derek, Alicia, Colin, Caitlin, Katharine and Olivia, and one grandson-in-law, Joe Shonce. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois.  Prayers 9:15 AM, Thursday, March 21, 2013 from the Funeral Home, proceeding St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois for Roman Catholic funeral Mass at 10:00 am.  Entombment will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 720 N. River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois.
