Richard Lee Bender was born July 8, 1930 in Chicago to William C. and Ruth (nee Stephens) Bender. He died March 9, 2012 at Pepper Family Hospice in Barrington.

Richard was a 1948 graduate of Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago and a 1952 graduate of Texas Arts and Industries College in Kingsville, TX. He was a self-employed real estate appraiser.

Richard is survived by his wife Solveig (nee Reinhartsen) Bender, whom he married April 14, 1962 in Chicago; his children Judith (Rev. Thomas) Buratovich, Rebecca (Walter, IV) Baer and Jennifer (Thomas) Webb; 8 grandchildren and by his siblings William, Jr. (Geraldine) Bender and Marion (Walter) Egebergh.

Visitation Monday, March 12, 2012 at The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 N. Douglas Ave. Arlington Heights, from 9:30 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Interment Tuesday March 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to The Orchard EFC or a charity of your choice.
