Peter J. “Turk” Titre Jr.
Of Arlington Heights

Peter J. “Turk” Titre Jr. retired Associate Principal from John Hersey High School was born of Italian immigrant parents on May 11th 1932 in Lockport Illinois. He passed away with his family by his bed side on March 5th 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Catherina and Peter Titre, stepmother Victoria and brothers Michael and John. He leaves behind his loving wife Maxine of 55 years of marriage and his children Michael (Robin), Mark (Amy), Mary (Eduardo) and Cathy, stepbrother Conrad Gordon (Peggy); and the joy of his life his four grandchildren, Luke, Allison, Andrew and Justin.

After graduating from Lockport Twp High School in 1950 Peter entered the United States Navy serving four years in the Admirals Staff of the Cruiser Division Four Atlantic/Mediterranean Fleet during the Korean War. Following his service he enrolled at Lewis University; transferring and graduating from Northern Illinois University and DeVry Technical Institute then began a thirty-four year teaching career at Maine East High School in 1958. Transferring to the new Maine West High School then to Forest View High School before being appointed Associate Principal during the construction of John Hersey High School in April 1967 from where he retired in 1992.

 

He has served his community as Merit Badge Counselor Boy Scouts of America, Board of Directors American Cancer Society, Vocational Advisory Committee Harper College, as well as Vocational Advisory Northern Illinois University, and Board of Director American Vocational Education. His membership include: Epsilon Pi Tau International Honor Society in Industrial/Vocational Education, Northwest Towns Sportsman’s Club, National Rifle Assn., 214 Retiree Assn., American Legion Post #208 and Loyal Order of Moose.

Visitation from 3:00 until 9:00 PM, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 8:45 AM, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., to Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell, Arlington Heights for Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment Private.
