Anna K. “Billie” Ligon
Of Arlington Heights
Anna Kathryn “Billie” Ligon was born on July 28, 1919 in Louisiana,
Missouri to the late John Otto Bell and Justine Agatha (Bruch) Elder and
passed away on March 24, 2010 in Buffalo Grove. Left to celebrate her
joyous life are her children Kathryn Jasper and her husband, Charles,
from Prosper, TX and Ken Ligon and his wife, Claudette, of Palatine, IL;
5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and other relatives and
friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John E.
Ligon; son, Richard A. Ligon; granddaughter, Heather E. Harvell and
sister, Polly Hunter.
Billie met Johnny in Louisiana, MO, when she was just 11 years old. When
Johnny proclaimed that he was going to marry her someday, she kicked him
and ran home crying. Eventually Johnny’s proclamation came to pass, and
they were married on June 8, 1940. They moved to Arlington Heights in
the early 1950s, where they raised their family and had many life-long
friends that were near and dear to them. She worked for Paddock
Publications for over 25 years, where she was a dedicated employee and
friend to all. She was a loving and loyal wife, a wonderful and
nurturing mother and a grandmother extraordinaire. She never met a
stranger and all who knew her loved her for her sweet and caring nature
and her fun-loving spirit. She saw the world through rose colored
glasses. We were all blessed to have had her in our lives.
