Heinz O. Schmitz
Of Arlington Heights

Heinz O. Schmitz was born November 22, 1914 to Otto and Maria (nee Strauss) Schmitz in Germany. He passed away March 13, 2010 at the Lutheran Home and Services in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Schmitz was self employed and owned S & H Reality in Chicago, before retiring in 1980. He was an avid singer and was a member of the Schillerliedertafel Chorus in Mount Prospect. Heinz also enjoyed poetry, history and loved to travel. Mr. Schmitz children loved their father’s disciplined work ethic, resourcefulness, willingness to help people and devotion toward this family. Heinz took pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Schmitz is survived by his daughters, Helga (Fritz) Bayer of Mt. Prospect and Renate (Joseph) Kampf of Arlington Heights; his grandchildren, Lisa and Christopher Bayer, Juliette (Jeffrey) Triebe, Joseph P. Kampf III, and Eric A. (Kathryn) Kampf; his great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Abigail Triebe and Jake, Max and Megan Kampf: and sister, Marga Blast

Heinz is preceded in death by his wife Maria, his brothers; Joseph, Bernard, and Hans and his sisters; Elizabeth (nee Hambitzer) and Thea (flee Jung).
